Our Story
BlueLine Living was created for people at all stages in their journey towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
Knowing that we are having a negative effect on our environment is one thing, but where do we start? When the problems facing our world seem so big and overwhelming, how can we make choices that make a difference?
Hi there!
I’m Corinne, and I have wrestled with these worries my entire life. Ever since my Grade 4 project on the “Three R’s”, I have wanted to contribute to positive change on our planet.
I went on to study science and our living world, and I began my professional life working in the area of public environmental policy. Although I am on a different path now, these issues remain of deep importance to me.
Now, as a parent to 3 young children, I know how important it is to lead by example. I want my children to know that it is the small, everyday choices we make that can lead to change.
Vintage has always been there, in the background of my life. As a teenager, I loved trying on my mother’s clothing from the 70s, looking through my grandmother’s costume jewelry, and strolling through thrift shops searching for interesting finds. The lure of vintage then was the unique, slightly off-beat nature of each item (a product of being a teenager in the grunge era).
As I grew up, vintage and thrifting was slowly replaced by the convenience of ready-to-wear shopping, and my love of vintage was put on the shelf for a few years. It wasn’t until I was a mother that I was drawn back to vintage, as I was looking to express my style more authentically. It was then that my eyes were opened to the environmental and social impacts of mass-produced, ready to wear garments. I could talk your ear off on this subject, but I won’t! To learn more on this subject, the Fashion Revolution organization is a wonderful and extensive resource.
BlueLine Vintage has now grown into BlueLine Living, in order to incorporate a number of handmade items that I have been driven to include in my offerings. I am passionate about incorporating sustainable materials, including recycled and repurposed textiles, into my creations.
